Ipswich Motorway Upgrade/The Alternate Northern Corridor (Goodna Bypass)

In November 2005, the Australian Government announced an allocation of $320 million under Auslink for the construction of either the Ipswich Motorway or the proposed Goodna Bypass. Concurrently the federal government commissioned an ‘Econmic Assessment’ in the amount of $10 Million under Auslink researching the relative merit of the two alternative proposals.

Whilst it the Department of Main Roads is preserving the ‘Alternate Northern Corridor’ future road reserve, with the recent election of the Federal Labor government, endorsement exists for the construction of the Ipswich Motorway Upgrade with completion of the upgrade likely in December 2012.
